First Independent Power Company Limited (FIPL) is a leading Nigerian power generation company committed to delivering reliable, responsible, and sustainable energy. We operate four gas turbine power plants in Trans-Amadi, Afam, Omoku, and Eleme, with a combined installed capacity of 541MW.

Since assuming operations in 2014, FIPL has consistently restored critical power assets, expanded generation capacity, and strengthened infrastructure to enhance grid reliability. From our founding to today, FIPL has consistently evolved to meet Nigeria's growing energy needs while maintaining our commitment to excellence and innovation.

2014
A New Beginning
FIPL assumed operations of its power generation assets, embarking on a journey to restore, modernize, and expand Nigeria's power infrastructure.
2016
Expanding Generation and Grid Access
Restored GT02, growing Trans-Amadi exports to 88MW and Omoku capacity to 105MW.
2017
Reviving Afam Plant
The Afam Plant, which was non-operational before the takeover, was successfully restored, strengthening overall generation capacity.
2018
Major Technical Milestone
Completed the Afam Plant's first turbine overhaul since commissioning, boosting reliability and performance.
2019
Restoring Additional Assets
Returned GT03 and GT04 to service, completing the restoration of previously idle generating units and contributing an additional 240MW of available capacity.
2021
Strengthening Energy Security
Built a dedicated gas pipeline to Accugas Ikot Abasi, securing a reliable alternative fuel supply.
2023
Driving Growth and Reliability
Commissioned GTE3 at the Eleme Plant using in-house engineering, completed another major turbine overhaul at the Afam Plant, and signed a Long-Term Service Agreement with GE Vernova (2023–2031) for OEM-backed maintenance support.
